With a shochu list curated by shochu and awamori expert, Christopher Pellegrini, OnJapan Cafe is a great place to kick back, read a book, eat some food made with seasonal ingredients, and sip a couple glasses of Japan’s national spirit.
The shochu list is small, but it changes once every month or two, so there’s always something new to check out. And if you ask nicely, they might even let you buy a glass from the secret selection hiding up on the top shelf. There’s a lot of quality up there, but nothing that will destroy your wallet.
Another reason to love this cafe, aside from its location of course, is the fact that it’s a non-smoking establishment! It’s still annoyingly uncommon in Japan to be able to enjoy shochu in a smoke-free environment.
Free Wifi, too!
The cafe is accessible from either JR Harajuku train station or Omotesando subway station.
The cafe is open 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM, seven days a week. The cafe is closed a couple Mondays (and the rare Tuesday) every month, so check ahead of time to make sure that you don’t get shut out!
